Presidio Graduate School Capstone Fall 2018

About Presidio Graduate School: Presidio Graduate School (PGS) is more than a graduate school, we are a community of innovative, passionate, and committed change-makers who aim to leave the world a better place for future generations. We attract and nurture a diverse and dedicated student body, people looking for a practical, systematic way to take an active part in their government and the way business is conducted, in America and abroad. At PGS students gain the business and leadership skills to impact change and follow a career path with meaning. PGS is an accredited, nonprofit graduate school founded in 2003, offering several unique degree programs — three MBAs, the only sustainable MPA, and one of the only Dual MBA/MPAs — as well as several certificates, all taught with our systems-thinking methodology at the core. The premise we adhere to is that real change happens at the intersection between private enterprise and the public sector, and across commerce, and the common good.

Presidio Graduate School 2018 Commencement Snapshot - San Francisco Campus

Our Keynote this year was Dr. Peter Gleick, a leading scientist, innovator, and communicator on global water and climate issues. He co-founded the Pacific Institute in Oakland, one of the most innovative, independent non-governmental organizations addressing the connections between the environment and global sustainability. Dr. Gleick’s work has redefined water from the realm of engineers to the world of sustainability, human rights, and integrated thinking. Gleick pioneered the concept of the “soft path for water,” developed the idea of “peak water,” and has written about the need for a “local water movement.” Among many other honors, Gleick received the prestigious MacArthur “genius” Fellowship, the U.S. Water Prize, and has been named “a visionary on the environment” by the BBC. He was elected in 2006 to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences and is the author/editor of many scientific papers and eleven books, includingThe World's Water series, Bottled and Sold: The Story Behind Our Obsession with Bottled Water (Island Press, Washington), and A 21st Century U.S. Water Policy (Oxford University Press, New York). Our incredible student speakers were Anand Jameson (MBA), Thomas Crowley (MPA), Tiffani Patton, and Avi Kruley (MBA & MPA)! This years Commencement was held at the beautiful SFJAZZ Center in downtown San Francisco. This LEED Certified building is one of the newest performance venues in the city and puts a modern touch on classical theater and reception spaces.
